SYNERGISE at the CERIS Annual Event 2024: Disaster-Resilient Societies – From Local to International Cooperation
Brussels, Belgium
Jun 5 - 7, 2024
SYNERGISE was actively engaged at the CERIS event 2024, held from 5-7 June with a theme centered on Disaster-Resilient Societies for Europe. This conference highlighted crucial networking initiatives spanning international to local levels in Disaster Risk Reduction (DRR). It focused on integrating DRR research with capacity-building projects and advancing access to knowledge in societal resilience.
Key topics included technologies aiding first and second responders, climate and weather extremes preparedness, geohazard management, and resilience against CBRN threats, particularly in medical emergencies. Over 25 EU projects in research and capacity-building were showcased, featuring insights from more than 40 speakers across diverse panels encompassing policy-makers, scientists, practitioners, SMEs, and civil society organizations.
On Day 2, SYNERGISE was represented by our coordinator Tiina Ristmäe during Panel 2, addressing the “Role of National and Thematic Networks – Interactions with CERIS.” This participation underscored our commitment to fostering synergies and advancing resilience strategies critical for Europe’s disaster-prepared future.
